Mantra and Meditation (Audio)

In the past fifty years the words yoga and meditation have become quite familiar to the modern generation. The word meditation is a combination of two words - medi and tation - means to attend to the thoughts with attention and intention. Meditation with mantra has been highly glorified in the ancient scriptures of India. Constant recitation of mantra does prepare the mind for specific types of concentration in meditation. While the mind repeats the mantra with sincere devotion, the intellect is guided to process the words of mantra with attention and intention. Slowly and gradually as the intellect becomes involved in the process, the words of mantra become synonymous with the beat of our heart - mantra vibrates from the entire body and the person goes into peaceful meditation, gently leaving behind words of mantra. At this stage of consciousness mantra appears off and on into the depth of sub-consciousness, but gradually fades away leaving behind a total silence.
